Welcome to Rugby Free Secondary School
Our school is an incredibly special and unique place, and I am proud of our inclusive nature, in which different cultures, backgrounds and religions are celebrated by all.
Underpinned by our six core values (Kindness, Respect, Resilience, Collaboration, Curiosity and Endeavour), our aim is to ensure that our students gain knowledge, understanding and skills that enable them to be ‘set for life’, and to enter the wider-world as active citizens in an ever-changing world.
We are extremely proud of our achievements in recent years, as both the main school and the Sixth Form have gone from strength-to-strength, in terms of academic performance and reputation, and we will continue to work hard to give our students the best possible opportunities. It was particularly pleasing to have been recognised by the Department for Education this year, with MP Stephen Morgan praising the culture and ethos of our school, and the behaviour of our students.
Beyond the taught curriculum, we promote and recognise participation and success in a wide range of extra-curricular activities to enable our students to discover lifelong interests and talents. This rich set of experiences develops students’ character, their cultural capital and enables them to live-and-breathe our core values outside of the classroom, as well as inside the classroom, linking back to our aim of developing the whole child. I am proud to say that we offer a wide-range of enrichment clubs and activities, including accredited experiences such as the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, whilst trips and visits are plentiful.
Rugby Free Secondary School is much, much more than just a place of learning and work – it is a thriving community, in which students and staff enjoy positive relationships. Whilst these words on a website may give you a small indication of what we are about as a school community, nothing beats the feel of RFSS, and it is this that so many people comment on when they walk around our building.
I am extremely proud to lead this school, alongside a dedicated and high-quality staff team, a delightful group of students, and supportive parents and carers.
The future is purple and silver!
